Controversial social media personality and comedienne Mai Titi has been slapped with a $500 000 defamation lawsuit by one of her former friends. The comedian, real name Felistas Murata, is alleged to have defamed ex-friend Memory Muyaka by calling her a prostitute, a witch and a gossiper on social media platforms.

iHarare has learned from local publication Zimlive that Muyaka who is the owner of Khloe’s Home Decor (Private) Limited was aggrieved by Mai Titi’s allegations that she filed a $500 000 lawsuit at the High Court.

Muyaka alleges that the alleged defamatory statements were made over a 6 month period stretching from November 2019 to April 2020 on Mai Titi’s Facebook Page which has well over 170 000 followers.

Part of Muyaka’s court papers read,

Plaintiff claim against the defendant is for an amount of $500,000 in respect of damages for defamation and interest. On several dates between November 17, 2019, and April 3, 2020, published several broadcasts on Facebook and WhatsApp platforms about the plaintiff whom she also calls Mai Khloe or Mai Maketeni.

“The said broadcasts stated that the plaintiff was a prostitute, a witch, a gossiper and someone who blackmails her clients.”

Muyaka who is being represented by lawyers Mundia and Mudhara Legal Practitioners also alleges that Mai Titi falsely accused her and three others (Prophet Passion Java, Tyra ‘Madam Boss’ Chikocho and Wanisai ‘Mahwindo’ Mutandwa) of wanting to kill her. In outlining the alleged plot against her, Mai Titi is said to have claimed that the three are part of the Illuminati, a secret society that is believed to be involved in Satanism.

“This was false and intended by the defendant to impute that plaintiff is an evil person. This statement is wrongful and defamatory of the plaintiff who is a Christian,” the  lawyers wrote in the summons.

Mai Titi is yet to respond to the summons.
