Nigerian hip-hop artist and actor, Remilekun Abdulkalid Safaru, widely recognized as Reminisce, has offered insights into the reason for his hiatus from the music industry.
In the latest episode of the Zero Conditions podcast, the artist behind “Local Rappers” explained that he took a break from music to refocus his attention on his family.
Reminisce, who recently marked his return with the much-anticipated album, “ATSG, Vol. 1,” following a seven-year absence, disclosed that his commitment to his craft had consumed so much of his time that he barely noticed the changes within his home or had quality time with his children, despite living under the same roof.
He shared, “There were times when I didn’t see my kids for 4 days, even though we were living together. When I returned home, they were at school…
“One of the reasons I decided to take a step back is because of a story I’d like to share. Some years ago, my wife transformed the entire look of our house. It was then that I realized I needed to step back and prioritize spending time with my family. Family over everything.”
