TWO people have died on the spot when a bus they travelling in was hit into by a truck.
The motorist of the Renault truck registration number AJE 750 which had it’s rear damaged has since abandoned the vehicle and is on the run.
Copperbelt Province Police Commanding officer Sharon Zulu says the accident occurred on Sunday around 1700 hours along the Ndola- Kitwe dual carriage way near Luanshya turn off.
“ Involved in the accident was Renault Truck Registration number AJE 750 which had a damaged rear which was driven by an unknown motorist who abandoned the truck after the accident. Also involved was a Mitsubishi Rosa bus registration number AAZ 8988 which was extensively damaged on the front part and it was being driven by Masauso Tembo aged 37 of Bulangililo Kitwe who sustained head injuries and fractured legs who’s admitted to Roan General Hospital, ” she said
She said the two people that had died on the spot were two females who haven’t yet been identified and they sustained head injuries and died on the spot.
“ The accident happened when the Mitsubishi Rosa bus was being driven on the Ndola Kitwe dual carriageway from east to west direction in the process it hit into Renault truck which had cut in front from north to south direction by joining Ndola Luanshya road. Police are yet to ascertain the number of passengers that were on board, ” she said.
She added that the bodies of the two deceased women have been deposited at Thompson Mortuary hospital in Luanshya awaiting for identification.
