Top Gun Maverick continues to dominate at the box office, blowing past the domestic total of Marvel Studios’ 2012 superhero film The Avengers. Top Gun Maverick has passed Marvel’s The Avengers to become the ninth-highest– grossing movie of all time at the domestic box office.
According to Variety, the Paramount Pictures blockbuster now grossed$623.8 million in North America, just more than the$623.3 million The Avengers grossed domestically during its entire theatrical run. Assiduity experts believe that if Maverick continues to perform exceptionally at the box office, the sequel to 1986’s Top Gun could eventually become the seventh-highest– grossing film domestically. The two titles currently standing in Maverick’s way are Jurassic World in eighth place with$ 653 million and Titanic in seventh place with$ 659 million. It’s doubtful that the Top Gun sequel will gross enough in its original box office run to pass Avengers Infinity War, which is in sixth place with$ 678 million.
