THREE kids have been stabbed by a 19 year old boy after they stopped him from visiting the girls ’ restricted sleeping quarters at Nasiwayo Primary in Nalolo district.
Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the incident happened yesterday around 2200 hours.
He said the matter was reported by their teacher Kadeey Siyengo who told officers who reported on behalf of three grade seven pupils from the same school who sustained injuries.
Mr Hamoonga said the three juveniles include a 17 year old who was stabbed with a knife and sustained a deep cut on the lower abdomen
He said another is aged 16, who was stabbed with a knife and sustained a deep cut on his left lower back while another 16 year was stabbed with a knife and sustained a deep cut on the lower left abdomen.
“ All the three were stabbed by a Male Juvenile aged 19 of Muoyo Village Chief Nalopu in Nalolo District and was arrested. Later, the three were referred to Lewanika General Hospital for treatment. The two juveniles both aged 16 were in a serious condition, ” he said.
Mr Hamoonga explained the incident happened when the three victims were among pupils who were participating in an Inter schools competition held at Muoyo Primary School.
He said around 2210 hrs the victims spotted the suspect with his friend heading towards the school girls ’ restricted sleeping quarters.
“ They notified their teacher and confronted the two suspects, who were discovered that they were outsiders. They tried to seize them. One of them ran away but the suspect was caught and in the process drew out a knife from his pocket and stabbed the three pupils.
He was later overpowered by other pupils, restrained and taken to the police station, together with the knife he used. After detaining the suspect, the three pupils were given medical report forms and conveyed in an ambulance to Lewanika General Hospital for treatment, ” he said.
Mr Hamoonga said the suspect has been charged with three counts of unlawful Wounding and detained in police custody.
