Ogun State Police Arrest Cult Member for Trespassing and Felony Attempt
In a recent operation, the Ogun State Police Command, in collaboration with the So-Safe Corps, arrested a 23-year-old man, Afolabi Taiwo, in Abioro Community, Sango Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.
The incident took place on November 1, 2023, when Afolabi allegedly entered the compound of a complainant in Abioro Street. The resident promptly raised an alarm, alerting neighbors to the intrusion, leading to Afolabi’s immediate arrest at the scene.
Upon interrogation, Afolabi reportedly confessed to being a member of the outlawed Eiye Confraternity Cult Group. He revealed that he was initiated into the cult in 2020 in Ajah, Lagos State.
The police spokesperson in Ogun, Omolola Odutola, commended the joint efforts of the police and the So-Safe Corps, emphasizing the significance of Afolabi’s confession. It will aid law enforcement in gathering additional intelligence and expediting the apprehension of other individuals implicated by Afolabi’s statement.
The arrest of the suspect represents a step forward in the ongoing battle against crime, as authorities work to maintain peace and security in the region.
