THE Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has introduced a new channel of communication with road traffic offenders through bulk Short Messaging System (SMS).
RTSA manager public relations Mukela Mangolwa said the agency has developed an automated application that will be generating messages to owners of motor vehicles that have been suspended on the RTSA e-ZamTIS for various traffic violations.
He said the messages will serve as reminders for traffic offenders to report to the RTSA offices to answer to traffic offence charges or for onward processing for prosecution through the Courts of law.
“This initiative has been introduced to ensure offenders are promptly served with charges that may require payment of fines through the Zambia Police Traffic Section or prosecution through the Courts,” he said.
Mr Mangolwa appealed to all motorists who have received SMSs from the Agency to comply and get in touch with the RTSA Call Centre for details on +260211 228798 or 0955 983983 in order to avoid being inconvenienced.
