Red Arrows striker Ricky Banda on Thursday night scored big at the 2022 MTN Super League Awards when he was crowned Player of the Year and Top Scorer of the Year Winner earning him a total of K45,000 on the night.
Banda who netted 16 times for the MTN Super League champions pipped former teammate Tresor Tshibwabwa and former ZANACO striker Moses Phiri in the Award for Best Player with his coach Chisi Mbewe banging the K20,000 rich Coach of the Year gong.
The K15,000 worth Young Player of the Year Award went to Power Dynamos midfielder Joshua Mutale while veteran striker James Chamanga was ahead of Hosea Silwimba and Winstone Kalengo in the K15,000 worth Most Disciplined Player of the Year Award.
The match officials were also catered for at the awards held at Pamodzi hotel in Lusaka with the Best Assistant Referee of the Year Award worth K10,000 going to Thomas Kaela while Mathews Hamalila picked the Referee of the Year Award (K15,000), defeating Janny Sikazwe and Audrick Nkole.
Cheers were heard throughout the environment when FAZ president Andrew Kamanga, in awarding the FAZ President’s Recognition Award, announced midfielder Mary Mwakapila as the recipient.
Mwakapila’s award, which totalled up to K30,000 after contributions by stakeholders was received by striker Barbara Banda on her behalf as she is currently ill. The other recognition award went to Copper Queens coach Bruce Mwape.
