South African media personality, Pearl Thusi, took to Twitter following President Ramaphosa’s national address, which spoke deemed Gender Based Violence as a national pandemic.
The actress used her platform to address the men that she knew, questioning them on what they are doing to end the abuse imposed on women.
Pearl initiated the trending hashtag, #MENMUSTHEAL, which suggest that South African men ought to deal with their deep rooted issues, in order to fix their treatment towards women.
She stated, “Men need to heal. So much anger and violence. What are the men we know doing to end this scourge of darkness? #MENMUSTHEAL.
Dear abusive men: The first step to healing and being a better person is recognising that you have a problem.”
So a lot of women dragging you for standing up. But yeah my gender need we need to heal

True..I feel like something also needs to change fundamentally though: specifically in terms of parenting / raising boys (and girls) better. Some kids don’t even have parents. Then there’s the major lack of father figures, not to mention good ones. It’s very deep rooted.

This is the only time i feel ashamed of being called a man😳. These cowards are just tarnishing the key role of being real man. We’re aught to protect, care for and above it all nurture.👌

In Other Stories: Pearl Thusi Shares Birthday Video from her Friends
Things have been very tough for our favourite Mzansi Queen, Pearl Thusi. The recent loss of her father took a tow on her as she has even been absent from social media. She also could not celebrate her birthday with her friends as she was dealing with the loss.
This, however, this did not stop her thoughtful friends from doing something sweet for the gorgeous Queen Sono. Her friends DJ Zinhle, Moozlie, Brandon Reynolds and Nadia Jaftha made a sweet video for her birthday celebrating her even though they could not be with her. They all lipsynced to the song ‘Simply the best’ singing for Pearl.
Here is what Pearl had to say about their sweet gesture:
“Thank you so much for all the incredible birthday wishes! This video brought me to tears once I watched it alone because I also have history with this song… 😭❤️🙏🏽 .
I’m blessed with an amazing family – and when I say family, I’m talking about friends that I’ve chosen as my family.
To all those who’ve chosen to love, support and ‘stan’ – I could never thank you enough.
It’s been a dark time and the light you’ve brought into my life this week has been an oasis of love and a reminder that life goes on… May God bless all of you abundantly! ❤️🙏🏽”
