PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says government is determined to ensure that the optimal teacher to learner ratio is reached.
Speaking at the Transforming Education Summit Leaders Dialogue on the sidelines of the 77th United Nations General Assembly in New York, President Hichilema said in recognizing the critical role that government plays in human capital development and sustainable development, his administration recently employed over 30,000 teachers.
The President said the move is aimed at improving the quality of teaching and learning, enhanced foundational learning, skills for life and living together, and skills for a changing world of work and education for sustainable development. And President Hichilema said government was committed to implementing the development of a new Education Policy and systematically review the entire education curriculum to better meet the learning needs of Zambian learners.
