MultiChoice has handed over 40 DStv Decoders and Soccer Boots to the Copper Queens who won bronze medals at the just-ended Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2022 held in Morocco.
MultiChoice Zambia Managing Director, Leah Kooma, said the Gifts of DStv decoders and football boots the morale of the team and support them ahead of the women’s world cup tournament in Australia/New Zealand.
“We are so proud of the Copper Queens for displaying great football. We believe that the gift of the DStv decoders and football boots will not only boost their confidence but also support the women’s team ahead of the women’s world cup tournament,” remarked Kooma.
The soccer boots are selectively for the 23 players. The DStv decoders, which come with a months’ subscription, are for the copper queens and the coaching staff.
The handing over of the DStv decoders, comes ahead of the New Football Season (NFS) starting in August.
“I believe this donation has also come at the right time when the new football season is starting, therefore, the decoders will avail the team and coaching staff an opportunity to watch football entertainment and learn from other football games in the New Football Season – NFS,” said Kooma.
Speaking after he received the gift on behalf of the team, Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Andrew Kamanga said the association was grateful for the donation.
“MultiChoice through SuperSport has been our broadcast partner for more than a decade. It is also easy to forget that MultiChoice was one of the few partners that came on board to boost our 2020 Olympic Games preparations with a donation. Today, they are back to also gift the girls with yet another package to appreciate them for their achievement. We salute MultiChoice for their longstanding support to our game,” said Mr. Kamanga.
He added, “We have FIFA World Cup preparations coming up ahead and we will be looking to more possible partnership and sponsorship opportunities.”
The presentation of the gifts comes almost a year after MultiChoice handed over 20,000 USD to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Organizing Committee to support the Zambia Women’s National Football Team in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games, held in Japan.
