Mourinho Targets Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior for AS Roma’s January Transfer Window
Jose Mourinho, AS Roma’s head coach, has purportedly urged the club to pursue Arsenal’s defender, Jakub Kiwior, during the upcoming January transfer window. The move is aimed at fortifying Roma’s defense for the latter half of the season.
As per reports from Italian outlet Romagiallorossa, Mourinho’s squad is evaluating options to acquire either Kiwior or Tottenham’s Eric Dier in the upcoming transfer window.
Kiwior made the switch to Arsenal from Spezia Calcio in January for a €25 million fee. Despite his arrival, the 23-year-old has grappled with limited playing time, often serving as a backup to the team’s primary left centre-back, Gabriel.
In the ongoing Premier League season, the Polish international has only made four appearances, struggling to secure a consistent spot in Mikel Arteta’s lineup. Across all competitions, he has featured in a total of 16 matches, scoring a single goal and providing no assists for the Gunners.
Roma is eyeing a cost-effective signing, especially with Evan Ndicka set to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with the Ivory Coast, leaving a potential gap in the team’s defensive lineup come January.
