THE narrative “ Mwilabika ubwalwa mufyabupuba ”( Do n’t involve alcohol in silly effects) has landed four police officers of Lusaka in jail after one of them allegedly picked to death a 20- time-old man who seized some beer bottles from their table.
Moses Theu is believed to have gone drinking on Friday last week at Mimos night club within Lilayi police council and also picked a quarrel with the four suspects when he got some beer bottles from their table.
Theu is contended to have also been picked in the neck with a broken bottle by one of the suspects.
Zambia Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said Chilanga police station is probing a case of suspected murder in which Esther Sakala reported that her son Theu was boggled.
“ detail data are that on July,2022 the deceased was drinking beer at Mimos Night club within Lilayi. Whilst at the night club he picked up a quarrel with four manly persons who were seated on their table drinking beer. The quarrel replaced after the departed got some bottles of beer from their table. The deceased was latterly picked by one of manly persons using a broken bottle ofbeer.The Deceased sustained a cut on the left side of the neck. He was also rushed to chawama Hospital for treatment where he was admitted, but latterly failed, ” he said.
“ The suspects are all police officers posted at Lilayi police council and one among the four is posted at Chawama police station. These are Inspector Febian Palata, Constables Lewis Mufwempa and JamesMfula.The triad are from Lilayi and the fourth suspect operative Constable Mulonda Mukelabai is from Chawama police station, ” he said.
Mr Hamoonga said the suspects are presently detained in police guardianship.
