KABIMBA WAS ASTONISHED WHEN THE PROVERB ‘UKUTEKA AMATAKO PANSHI’ BECOME A CRIME… comments the cops are just humiliating HH

State Counsel Wynter Kabimba asks when the Bemba adage ‘teka amatako panshi’ became an insult for which Raphael Nakachinda was arrested.

In an interview with the Daily Revelation following the arrest of PF’s Nakachinda for allegedly defaming the President, Kabimba stated that ‘teka amatako panshi’ simply means ‘take it easy’ in Bemba.

“How can that be considered an insult?” The cops are only making themselves look worse. When did an African proverb turn into an insult?… “I don’t even feel, I don’t think what Nakachinda stated is a crime or criminal defamation of the President,” Kabimba said. “The Bemba word teka amatako panshi simply means to take it easy and relax so that you may do what you need to do.”

Kabimba stated that when a country borrows a foreign language to supplant the local language, the police are only trying to show “their paymasters in authority that they are discharging functions, when they are simply embarrassing themselves and the man they are trying to please.”

“It’s a proverb in the Bemba language.” Yes, HH should take it easy… “Police must exercise extreme caution when harassing opposition political parties, because, as happened in PF, the person they are making unpopular is the President,” Kabimba added.

He stated that whether the President was engaged or not, the public would regard this as political persecution of his political opponents by the President.
