FOUR people among them a security guard have been arrested for pretending to be authorized medical personnel and signing on the Medical Forms of Certificate of Medical Examination for the recently recruited teachers.
Police have since charged the four with False Assumption of Authority.
In a statement, police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the incident happened between July, 21 and 22 this year at Kasama Central hospital staff compound, situated within the hospital area.
“ Brief facts are that on July 22, 2022 around 1130 hours the Police received a tip off from members of the public that there were people who have assumed the Doctor’s authority, immediately after receiving the information officers rushed to the scene and started looking for the same people and in the process officers noticed suspicious behaviours, he said.
Mr Hamoonga officers found Mervis Muma aged 24 of Chitulika with signed copy of medical fitness.
Mr Hamoonga said those arrested include Victor Mutale 46 a security guard, Sylvester Kasoma aged 30 a businessman, Chizyuka Milimo aged 44 a Theater Nurse and Chama Chibamba aged 30 a Male Nurse. He said investigations are still underway.
Mr Hamoonga further warned the recently recruited teachers and any other prospective workers to always be alert and only pay the necessary fees through government designated or established offices.
