FIVE people have been arrested in connection with murder cases that rocked Mitete district of Western province in the recent past.
Police conducted a raid with help of members of the public and have since also recovered one AK47 Rifle loaded with one round of security.
Zambia Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga says the five suspects are still in police custody as investigations are ongoing.
“ The suspects have been revealed as Chinyama Kayawe aged 30, Mayombo Kamizhi aged 35, Douglas Namunji aged 35, Liambi Nasilele aged 48 and Chinyemba Chinyemba aged 37 all of Mitete district in Western Province.
He said the suspects were restrained after Police conducted a raid in the district with the help of the members of the public and managed to recover one AK47 Rifle in the process.
Meanwhile, Police in Kaoma of Western Province have also arrested a 45 traditional healer identified as Kebby Pooto of Kapulanga Township in Mongu district for the offence of unlawful confinement and carrying goods by false pretenses.
“ It’s affirmed that the suspect has been carrying out foreseeing conditioning in the area by naming and confirming people to be practicing witchcraft and later got animals aspayment.The suspect is in police custody awaiting court appearance, ” he said.
