Talking to a local publication New Zimbabwe, Godfrey Tsenangamu the former Zanu PF youth league commissar revealed that controversial businessman Billy Rautenbach pays salaries for Zanu PF politicians and staff.
Earlier this year the controversial activist Godfrey Tsenengamu and the youth league secretary-general Lewis Matutu were expelled from the Zanu Pf party. Tsenengamu and his counterpart made the headlines as they named and shamed some of the corrupt local businessmen. They alleged that, through their illegal corrupt dealings, they were crippling the Zimbabwean national economy.
As a result, there were suspended and later expelled from Zanu PF for exposing these illegal corrupt dealings publicly. It is reported that the Zanu PF party is very broke and as such, it depends on Billy Rautenbach to pay their salaries.
Tsenengamu reveals that even though, he was just a youth leader, he got a new car and earned a monthly salary of $8 000. He further, reveals that, after exposing Zanu PF benefactors and revealing their shady corrupt dealings with local businessmen, he was expelled from the party. The outspoken Tsenengamu said that,
“They had to act after we said something about him (Rautenbach) because he is the sponsor of the party, he pays salaries for those in the party.”
Tsenengamu added that,
“The party has no viable companies, the companies have long collapsed. Rautenbach bought those cars for the party, he provides fuel. So, the party has been captured. No one can say anything and expect kindness from the leadership.”
After the expose made headlines. Tsenangamu reveals that,
“Billy released a statement saying ‘no we don’t have a monopoly’ after we named and shamed him and when l said it, people.”
Green fuel plant from the onset was labeled as a land grab as large tracts of land were bought in Chisumbanje. To add on to that, the mandatory fuel blending imposed by the Government on behalf of the Green Fuel Chisumbanje ethanol plant has always been met with disdain and has always been viewed as a sign of Rautenbach’s far-reaching influence on Zanu-Pf party. Tsenengamu says,
“But, where are we today with the ethanol blending.”, “Why mandatory blending when we were told that if they mix with ethanol, it is was going to be cheaper, but the ethanol has pushed the prices of fuel up.”
Tsenegamu also allegedly claims that Rautenbach mistreats Chisimbanje residents and boasts that, ‘he is untouchable.’
“Because Billy is a friend of the leaders, he boasts about it go and ask people in Chisumbanje, they will tell you that. Go and see how he is treating the villagers in Chisumbanje, why, because he enjoys protection from the authorities and that is why they had to chase us from the party because for them, it was about Billy and in a way, we had pointed a finger at them (leaders),” said Tsenengamu
An angry Tsenangamu added that,
“… Billy is one of them in their corrupt ways.”
