DJ Zinhle has kept her thoughts on The South African Music Awards (SAMAS) and the matter of the nominees to herself. Add the fact that she is nominated in the Record Of The Year (ROTY) category for her hit single “Umlilo,” with DJ Mvzzle, featuring Rethabile, maybe keeping quite is the best idea.
But when a tweep took to Twitter and while they shared the collective displeasure at Master KG getting blackballed by The SAMAS, the tweep thought they should throw shade at DJ Zinhle. In their tweet they suggest that “Jerusalema” was a bigger song than “Umlilo,” so if the song wins the ROTY nod, DJ Zinhle probably bought it.
How is @DJZinhle nominated for ROTY and master KG isn’t. Even she knows if she wins this, it’s an award she doesn’t deserve. It was Jerusalem everywhere in December, even now. This song is big all over Africa. Niwathenga ngempela. This is master kgs award! Period! #SAMA26

That is when DJ Zinhle put the tweep correct. Firstly, she reminded the tweep of their manners. Secondly, she said she does not care about awards. And third she ended the tweet with a little shade by writing, “Uyaphapha.”
Learn to fight for your faves without accusing other people of things you know nothing about. I actually don’t care if I’m nominated or not. Ngiyithenge kuphi I-Award sisi?
If there was a way I’d give my nomination to someone else. These awards don’t define my life. Uyaphapha. https://t.co/oec8JitBKO
