Court acquits lusaka woman accused of being in possession of military regalia without documentation

THE Lusaka Magistrate court has described as overzealous the action by police officers who arrested a 50-year-old woman who was found in possession of official army uniforms.

Chimuka Malawo, a business woman of Lusaka was arrested and charged with being in unauthorized possession of uniform.

However, after establishment through the courts, it has been found that Malawo is a hardworking woman who had documentation for being in possession of the army uniforms and has since been acquitted.

It was alleged that between January 1st, 2019 and January 1st, 2022 in Lusaka, jointly and whilst working together with other persons unknown , Malawo had in her possession, defence force uniforms namely; one Zambia Army red barret, two Zambia Army caps, two pairs of Zambia Army combat, three Zambia Army green hood, two Zambia Army.

She was then arrested and the matter was taken to court.

However, Lusaka Resident Magistrate Felix Kaoma in passing judgement said the case of Malawo was that of a hard working woman who was arrested overzealously

Magistrate Kaoma then acquitted Malawo and set her at liberty after having found her not guilty.
