Bus operators agree to reduce fares, RTSA

AFTER running battles with police recently over the reduced bus fares that were announced by the Road Traffic and Safety Agency (RTSA), the bus operators have finally agreed to reduce the fares.

The bus fare reduction is effective tomorrow and will be displayed in all buses and stations.

Recently, after the announcement by RTSA to have bus fares reduced following the reduction of the fuel pump price by the Energy Regulation Board (ERB), bus operators had mixed feelings and refused to effect the reduced bus fares.

With the refusal to have the bus fares reduced, some bus operators on the Copperbelt went to an extent of causing havoc at Mulungushi station in Ndola where they started stoning police officers during a briefing that was being given by the Minister of Transport and Logistics Frank Tayali.
