Durban – Mpumalanga police arrested three suspects about the murder of actress Thandeka Mdeliswa.
On Friday, the breakthrough was made when officers swooped on the lads; one claimed to be the leader.
Mdeliswa, 34, who acted the role of Khanya Hlophe within the television soapie IKANI was killed on September 03 in Evander.
Mpumalanga police spokesman, Brigadier Leonard Hlathi said officers arrested a 27-year-old man in reference to the murder and other two suspects, aged 24, also like 29, for unlawful possession firearm believed to possess been utilized in the homicide.
“According to the info regarding the fatal incident, police were informed that Mdeliswa heard a dispute between her brother and two men. She then went bent investigate the matter after that getting closer, one among the lads snatched a gun from his friend and shot her. The 2 men after that fled the scene, and police also as medical personnel were suddenly called where she was hospitalised but unfortunately died on September 05, 2020,” Hlathi said.
The Provincial Commissioner of the police in Mpumalanga, general officer Mondli Zuma, has welcomed the Detectives’ sterling work from Evander and Ekurhuleni Metro local department, Northern Region Task Team, who assisted one another in arresting the suspects.
“We are glad that the suspects are arrested, including the alleged murderer. We also believe that a minimum of the arrest will bring comfort to the family as they’re going to be ready to find closure. it’s my pleasure also to commend the great work done by both teams within the suspects’ apprehension,” said General Zuma.
Three suspects are set to appear at the Evander Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
